About Me

I'm a UX designer who transitioned from Computer Science and now wants to fix bad UX everywhere!

My journey into UX started with coding applications using JAVA Netbeans and Visual Studio, and I was the designated ‘UI designer’ on my team 😀 . Our code worked great, but our UIs were bad! This got me thinking about the front end and how elements could be designed more logically and aesthetically. My affinity for art and graphic design, combined with technical chops led me to a career in UX – and I gained degrees to build my proficiency from the National Institute of Design and the University of Washington.

What I bring to teams

I’ve been brought in to solve messy problems and get results fast. My experiences range from working with teams not familiar with design, advocating for UX  to getting in on project delays and shipping out prototypes quickly. My strengths include:

Building alignment with stakeholders via problem space validation, rapid prototypes, journey maps and task flows

– Running lightweight research/evaluative testing with users and working with teams to build new features

– Using a range of design artefacts to surface assumptions, questions and drive feature teams forward

Technical fluency that enables me build practical solutions &  and understand backend systems

My design philosophy

I believe that design surpasses the bounds of digital and screens and is the sum total of all functions of a company intersecting to provide a service. As a designer, we must always bring information in from other departments, understand systems as they can impact design and product quality.

My life outside of work

I am active in design communities, mentor junior designers and spend time on art and craft to rejunvinate!Â
